“Pero tenemos que pensar en el invierno, pues de otro modo pasaremos
hambre,” dijo el gato. “Tú, ratoncillo, no puedes aventurarte por todas
partes, al fin caerías en alguna ratonera.”...compraron un pucherito lleno de manteca...y propuso el gato: “Mira, el mejor lugar es la iglesia. Allí
nadie se atreve a robar nada. Lo esconderemos debajo del altar y no lo
tocaremos hasta que sea necesario.”
"But we must make preparations for winter, or else we shall suffer from
hunger," said the cat, "and you, little mouse, cannot venture out
everywhere, or in the end you will be caught in a trap." ... they bought a pot of fat... and the cat said, "I
know of no place where it will be better stored up than in the church.

Pero todo era mentira; ni el gato tenía prima alguna ni lo habían hecho
padrino de nadie. Fuese directamente a la iglesia, se deslizó hasta el
puchero de grasa, se puso a lamerlo y se zampó toda la capa exterior.
Aprovechó luego la ocasión para darse un paseíto por los tejados de la
ciudad; después se tendió al sol, relamiéndose los bigotes cada vez que
se acordaba de la sabrosa olla.
The cat had no cousin, and had not been asked to be godfather. He went
straight to the church, crept up to the pot of fat, began to lick at it,
and licked off the top of the fat. Then he went for a stroll on the
roofs of the town, looked out for opportunities, and then stretched out
in the sun, licking his whiskers whenever he thought of the pot of fat.
Ahíto como un tonel, no volvió a casa hasta bien entrada la noche. Al
ratón le faltó tiempo para preguntarle qué nombre habían dado al tercer
gatito. “Seguramente no te gustará tampoco,” dijo el gato. “Se llama
Terminado.” - “¡Terminado!” exclamó el ratón. “Éste sí que es el nombre
más estrafalario de todos. Jamás lo vi escrito en letra impresa.
¡Terminado! ¿Qué diablos querrá decir?” Y, meneando la cabeza, se hizo
un ovillo y se echó a dormir.
Well filled and fat, he did not return home until nighttime. The mouse
immediately asked what name had been given to the third child. "You will
not like it either," said the cat. "His name is All-Gone." -
"All-Gone!", cried the mouse. "That is the most worrisome name of all. I
have never seen it in print. All-Gone! What can that mean?" Then she
shook her head, curled herself up, and lay down to sleep.
